IMPORT REGULATIONS

– AGE RESTRICTIONS:

No age restriction.

– STEERING WHEEL:

Left hand drive (LHD).

– DESTINATION PORTS:

Helsinki, Hanko, Kotka.

– INSPECTION:

No Inspection is required before shipment.

On the other hand, an imported vehicle must be inspected before registration in Finland. It can be conducted after its arrival in the country even before the implementation of taxation.

– TAXES AND DUTIES:

If you are importing a used vehicle to Finland and the used car is not registered in this country, you have to submit a car tax declaration and pay the its tax. If you intend to use the vehicle before paying the tax and before the vehicle is registered in Finland, you must first submit a declaration of vehicle use to the Finnish Tax Administration.
You have to submit a car tax declaration with enclosures within five days of submitting the declaration of use.
A car tax decision will be sent by post to your home address. Subsequently, the vehicle can only be used if it is registered in Finland.
The VAT on import of vehicles is 24%. A car must comply with European exhaust regulations.
