IMPORT REGULATIONS


– AGE RESTRICTIONS:

No age restriction.

 

– STEERING WHEEL:

Left hand drive (LHD).

 

– DESTINATION PORTS:

Bremerhaven, Hamburg.

 

– INSPECTION:

Technical Inspection (Fahrzeug-Hauptuntersuchung), TUV is required for a vehicle imported into Germany.

– TAXES AND DUTIES:

A)   Import Duty of 10% of a vehicle Cost and Freight (C&F).

B)   Tax at 19% of a vehicle Cost and Freight (C&F)

C)   Every motor vehicle registered in Germany is subject to a special motor vehicle tax (Kfz-Steuer). The first payment must be paid soon after registering a vehicle.

 

 – EXEMPTION ON TAXES AND DUTIES IS PROVIDED, IF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS ARE MET

  1. An importer must have lived outside the European Union (EU) for at least 12 months.
  2. A vehicle must be bought outside of EU and have driven for at least six months before its importation from overseas.
  3. An importer must be a registered citizen of Germany.
  4. A vehicle is intended for exceptionally personal use.
  5. An importer should keep a vehicle for at least one year following its importation.

 

– REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

  1. Copy of passport or other identification
  2. Residence Registration Confirmation
  3. Copy of certificate of Title and Registration
  4. Proof of ownership e.g. Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice
  5. Customs clearance certificate (Zollbescheinigung) stating payment of or exemption (Unbedenklichkeitsbe-scheinigung) of relevant taxes and duties.
  6. Proof of liability insurance
  7. TUV certificate
  8. Insurance confirmation
